As we met yesterday, it occurred to me that this might be a good place to address questions staff receive about the Macs. Both the regular computers which are running Windows, and the iMacs that patrons can use.
What questions have you received since the Macs arrived at your branch?

Has anyone ever proposed a little patron education about the Mac software package? Our Mac is simply not used by adults and I think that they feel intimidated by operating system differences with Windows. If they were aware of the capabilities of the Mac I think they would be delighted to try it. I am thinking along the lines of a formal class which gives us an opportunity also to talk with patrons everyday about the machine.
We have a series of 4 classes on the Macs designed for teens at Koelbel and Smoky Hill, so far attendance has been good. Hopefully we'll do more of this.
